How to Install Leap Office 2000 on Windows 7 for Free

Leap Office 2000 is a popular software suite for Indian languages that was developed by CDAC and released in 1998. It supports typing and editing in Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu. Leap Office 2000 is compatible with Windows 95, 98 and NT, but not with newer versions of Windows such as Windows 7. However, there is a way to install and run Leap Office 2000 on Windows 7 for free using a virtual machine.

A virtual machine is a software that emulates a computer system and allows you to run different operating systems and applications on your existing computer. You can download and install a free virtual machine software such as VirtualBox or VMware Player on your Windows 7 computer. Then you can create a virtual machine with Windows 98 as the guest operating system and install Leap Office 2000 on it. This way, you can use Leap Office 2000 on Windows 7 without any compatibility issues.

Here are the steps to install Leap Office 2000 on Windows 7 for free using a virtual machine:

Download and install a virtual machine software such as VirtualBox or VMware Player on your Windows 7 computer.

Download a Windows 98 ISO file from the internet. You can search for it on Google or use this link: https://archive.org/details/Windows98SE_201801. This is an archived version of the original Windows 98 Second Edition CD-ROM.

Launch the virtual machine software and create a new virtual machine with the following settings:

Name: Windows 98

Type: Microsoft Windows

Version: Windows 98

Memory size: 256 MB

Hard disk: Create a virtual hard disk now

Hard disk file type: VDI (VirtualBox Disk Image)

Storage on physical hard disk: Dynamically allocated

File location and size: Choose a location and size for your virtual hard disk (at least 2 GB)

Click on Create to finish creating the virtual machine.

Select the virtual machine and click on Settings. Go to Storage and click on the empty CD-ROM icon under Controller: IDE. On the right side, click on the CD-ROM icon next to Optical Drive and choose Choose a Disk File. Browse to the location where you downloaded the Windows 98 ISO file and select it. Click on OK to save the settings.

Start the virtual machine and follow the instructions to install Windows 98 on it. You will need to enter a product key during the installation. You can use this one: K4HVD-Q9TJ9-6CRX9-C9G68-RQ2D3.

After installing Windows 98, you will need to install some drivers for the virtual machine to work properly. Go to Devices in the virtual machine menu bar and choose Insert Guest Additions CD Image. This will mount a CD-ROM with some drivers and tools for the virtual machine. Run the setup.exe file from the CD-ROM and follow the instructions to install the guest additions.

Restart the virtual machine and you will see that it has improved graphics, mouse integration and shared folders with your host computer.

Download Leap Office 2000 from this link: https://www.cdac.in/index.aspxid=dl_leap_office_2000. This is the official website of CDAC where you can download Leap Office 2000 for free.

Copy the downloaded file to a shared folder between your host computer and your virtual machine. You can create a shared folder by going to Devices in the virtual machine menu bar and choosing Shared Folders Settings. Click on Add Folder icon and choose a folder from your host computer that you want to share with your virtual machine. Give it a name and check Auto-mount and Make Permanent options. Click on OK to save the settings.

In your virtual machine, go to My Computer and open Network Neighborhood. You will see 061ffe29dd
